Salli Reid Garrick, a 50-year resident of Greenwich, died Friday at Greenwich Hospital of breast cancer. She was 80.
Garrick was born in Chicago to Dr. Marie Cooney and Donald Ferguson. She attended Holy Spirit High School in Atlantic City, N.J., where she won the title of Miss Boardwalk in the Miss Atlantic City Beauty Contest. She graduated with a degree in history from Good Council College in White Plains, N.Y.
Garrick worked for American Airlines, first in sales and later in flight. She married Capt. Frank P. Lennon in 1957 and two years later moved to Greenwich, where she raised four children. Garrick married John H. Garrick in 1980. She was a Realtor for nearly 30 years, most recently at Coldwell Banker. Garrick was a member of the Greenwich Board of Realtors and several national associations.
Garrick was an active docent at the Bruce Museum, and in 2008, was recognized as Docent of the Year. As an ambassador for the museum, she participated in the Museum Speakers Bureau Program, an outreach program for the Greenwich community about changing exhibitions. She was also a member of the Greenwich Arts Council, Bush-Holley House, the Greenwich Library, the Pickwick Society, the Cotton Club of Christ Church and the Audubon Society.
Garrick is survived by her son, Paul Reid Lennon of Redondo Beach, Calif.; two daughters, Heather Lennon Howard of Norwalk and Nell Lennon Williams of Vienna, Va.; her brother, Donald F. Reid of San Francisco; her stepdaughter, Veronica Garrick Cavanaugh of Dunwoody, Ga.; and three grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Frank P. Lennon Jr.
A memorial Mass was celebrated Monday at St. Pauls Roman Catholic Church in Greenwich. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Salli Garrick to the Bruce Museum, 1 Museum Drive, Greenwich, CT 06830.
