Run Supports Hungry in Senegal

People from Greenwich and Fairfield County are joining together on Nov. 20 for the second annual Run for Africa to support the Friends in Africa and My Fathers House Children's Home.

The race offers three different levels for participants of all ages. There will be a 3.3k walk that is perfect for families and strollers, a 3.3k run for kids and teens and at 10k run for trained runners.

Friends of Africa hosts quarterly, two-day free medical clinics for the sick, poor and starving people of Senegal. Volunteers provide medical and dental treatments, health education and feeding programs. Over 600 patients are treated at each clinic and thousands of malnourished people are provided a nutritious meal. My Fathers House provides a family environment for abandoned children. They are given daily meals and have a housemother or father to care for them.

Registration is $30 or free to participants who raise $100 or more. The race will begin at the Harvest Time Church parking lot at 10 a.m. For more information, contact runforafrica@me.com.
