GREENWICH, Conn. Republican presidential front-runner Mitt Romney has again received more campaign donations from Greenwich residents than his primary rival Rick Santorum, any other Republican candidate and President Barack Obama, according to numbers released by the Center for Responsive Politics.
Romney had received a total of $504,950 as of March 21, according to OpenSecrets.org, a project of the Center for Responsive Politics. The research group, based in Washington, D.C., is tracking money in U.S. politics.
Greenwich residents had individually contributed $3,428,886 to candidates in the 2012 election as of April 9. In the 2008 presidential election, Greenwich residents donated $6,753,431. These figures do not include funds donated by political action committees, which are established mostly by business or groups of individuals and allow large donations to be made.
An individual is permitted to give $2,500 to a candidate for the primary season and another $2,500 for the general election.
Santorum has received $3,750 in contributions so far, with the majority from John C. Sites of Wesford Capital LP.
Ron Paul received $3,254 in contributions, the bulk of which came from Paul Selinger, a Merrill Lynch financial adviser. Newt Gingrich, who fell out of favor for the Republican ticket, received a total of $14,500 from Greenwich residents, though this number has gone unchanged since February.
Obama has received a total of $80,673 in donations from residents in Greenwich.
Overall in Connecticut, for individual contributors, Romney has raised a total of $2,667,238; Santorum, $46,260; Paul, $178,092; and Gingrich, $117,045. In the state, Obama has raised $1,176,879.
However, Restore Our Future, the Politician Action Committee created to support Romney, received large funds from Greenwich residents: Chris Shumway, CEO of Shumway Capital Investments, contributed $750,000; Paul Tudor Jones II, CEO of Tudor Investment Corp., contributed $200,000; and Steven Price, CEO of Townsquare Media, contributed $50,000.

Restore Our Future received $1 million.
Mitt Romney received $504,950.
Republican National Committee received $245,310.
National Republican Senatorial Committee received $165,785.
U.S. Rep. Christopher Murphy, a Democrat, received $107,938.
U.S. Sen. Jim Himes, D-Greenwich, received $101,050.
Obama received $80,673.
Democratic National Committee Service Corp. received $72,100.
U.S. Senate candidate Susan Bysiewicz, a Democrat, received $54,500.
U.S. Senate candidate William Tong, a Democrat from Stamford, received $51,576.
