Richard G. Conklin of Greenwich, a retired tax attorney and Navy veteran, died on Oct. 19 at Greenwich Hospital. He was 87.
Conklin was a philanthropist who dedicated 37 years to help those with alcohol and drug problems. He served seven years in the Navy after graduating from St. John's University. He retired as a tax attorney and CPA with Textron, Inc.
He is survived by wife of 59 years, Antoinette; two sisters, Ruth Martin and Eleanor Hartill; a brother, John, and many nieces and nephews. A Mass was held at St. Timothy's Chapel North Street on Saturday. Burial was at Putnam Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made in Conklin's name to Nathaniel Witherell.
