A Brooklyn, N.Y., woman was arrested by warrant Tuesday after a lengthy investigation by detectives from the Greenwich Police Department into a string of larcenies last year.
Magdala Pierre-Louis, 24, of 958 Utica Ave., Brooklyn, was the second person arrested in the incidents. She was the target of charges by at least nine other police departments, said Lt. Kraig Gray, spokesman for Greenwich police.
In 2009, Pierre-Louis and her partner allegedly victimized women who left their purses unsecured at Greenwich businesses. She then allegedly used the stolen credit cards to make several fraudulent purchases.
"She has a lengthy criminal history up and down the Eastern seaboard. At 24, she is a career criminal," said Gray. "Detectives did a find job putting together a solid case to take her off the streets."
Pierre-Louis had been incarcerated at Westchester County Jail in New York on unrelated charges and waived extradition to Connecticut. She was arrested on charges of first-degree larceny, 15 counts of credit card theft, 25 counts at illegal use of credit card, third-degree conspiracy at identity theft and conspiracy at criminal impersonation. She was held on $100,000 bond and is due to appear in court Nov. 17.
Police said Pierre-Louis' arrest marks the end of the investigation. No more arrests were expected.
