Pauline Maria Zap Turek, Formerly of Greenwich

GREENWICH, Conn. – Pauline Maria Zap Turek, formerly a resident of Greenwich and Stamford, died Feb. 22 in Newtown, Pa. She was 90.

Turek was born July 19, 1921, in Stamford to Harry and Tina Zaplatynski. She graduated from Stamford High School in 1938. She held many jobs over the decades, including work as a furrier model at several New York City showrooms in the 1940s. She later worked in the publishing industry in Greenwich and Stamford.

She married John Turek, of Greenwich, in 1950 and lived in Cos Cob for 45 years. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Church in Riverside.

Turek is survived by her son, Jack Turek and his wife, Donna; daughter Melissa Hepburn; daughter Elizabeth Michel and her husband, George; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Saturday at St. Catherine of Siena Church Chapel in Riverside. Burial followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Greenwich. Arrangements were made by the Castiglione Funeral Home Inc. in Greenwich.
