N.Y. Woman Faces Greenwich Shoplifting Charge

GREENWICH, Conn. – A Maybrook, N.Y., woman was extradited to Greenwich Thursday to face charges in a May shoplifting incident, police said.

On May 27, Shelly Santos, 43, was interrupted by employees of Hoagland’s of Greenwich during a shoplifting incident, police said. A witness told police Santos ran from the Greenwich Avenue store. The witness gave a description of the vehicle and plate number, which led police to Santos.

During the incident, another woman, Danielle Nicole Pereira, 21, of 195 Plains Road in Walden, N.Y., was arrested and charged with conspiracy.

On Aug. 9, a warrant was issued for Santos’ arrest and extradition. On Sept. 26, New York State corrections officials notified Greenwich police that Santos was being detained in Suffolk County. Santos waived her right to contest extradition, police said.

On Thursday, Santos was brought from Suffolk County to Greenwich Police headquarters and charged with robbery, larceny and conspiracy to commit larceny.

She posted a $25,000 bond and is due in court Oct. 14.
