GREENWICH, Conn. A Greenwich homeowner, who was awakened by a man trying to burglarize his house, chased the suspect while in the buff. Police later arrested the suspect on burglary and larceny charges.
At 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, a homeowner at Orchard Place near Bruce Park confronted a burglar in his kitchen. The suspect immediately fled and was chased down the block by the homeowner, who, having been awakened from sleep, was completely naked. They tussled, and the homeowner ripped off the suspects mask. He backed off when the burglar produced what appeared to be a weapon. The man returned to his home uninjured and contacted police with a description of the suspect.
Officers flooded the area and were joined by two detectives who were off duty after completing a side job at a water main break on Railroad Avenue.
Gideon Dunn, 29, of 225 146th St., Apartment 19A, New York, N.Y., was soon found at Railroad Avenue and Arch Street and arrested on charges of first-degree burglary, criminal attempt at burglary, third-degree burglary, two counts of larceny, and breach of peace.
Police said Dunn had an iPad, jewelry and silverware in his possession and strewn around the area. He was held on $150,000 bond and is due in court Aug. 17.
Follow-up investigations found other homes and cars in the Bruce Park area, on Indian Chase Drive and Orchard Place that had possibly been burglarized.
Residents need to remember to lock your doors always, have motion sensor lights, alarms, and all the typical security measures to deter burglars from your home, said Lt. Kraig Gray, spokesman for the Greenwich Police Department.
