GREENWICH, Conn. -- Nora Marron Loughran, a former resident of Greenwich, died of breast cancer on Tuesday at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. She was 78 years old.
She was born on Jan. 19, 1933, and grew up in Stamford. She moved to Greenwich with her husband, the late Peter Loughran, where the couple raised five children.
Loughran was a longtime member of the Greenwich Chapter of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, serving as president of the Ladies Auxiliary for many years. She worked as a private duty Certified Nursing Assistant at Wilton Meadows.
She is survived by her children, Peter, Kevin and wife, Susie, Maureen Shimko-Longcoy and her husband, Jim, Nora and her husband, Louis, and Robert and his wife Kristin; nine grandchildren; her sister, Eileen Macklin, and brothers Thomas and John Marron. She was predeceased by her brother Jerry Marron.
A Mass will be held Friday, Aug. 5, at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 95 Henry St. in Byram. Interment will follow at St. Marys Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Leo P. Gallagher and Sons, 31 Arch St., Greenwich.
