Mark Madoff Owned Home in Greenwich

Mark Madoff, who was reported to have committed suicide in his New York apartment Saturday, owned a home in Greenwich, according to GreenwichTime.com.

Mark Madoff, 46, the elder son of jailed financier Bernie Madoff, hanged himself with a dog leash in his SoHo apartment on the second anniversary of this father's arrest, The Associated Press reported.

Madoff's 2-year-old son was asleep in a nearby bedroom, The Associated Press reported.

Neither Mark Madoff, who reported his father to authorities, nor his brother, Andrew, have been charged in the multibillion-dollar Ponzi scheme in which thousands of investors lost their life savings, The Associated Press reported.

But both sons have remained under investigation and been named in multiple investor lawsuits that accuse them of profiting from the scheme, The Associated Press reported.

Mark Madoff's body was found by his father-in-law after Madoff's wife, who was in Disney World, received an alarming e-mail from him, The Associated Press reported.
