GREENWICH, Conn. Marie Donnelly Lindberg, a former Greenwich resident, died on Aug. 2 of congestive heart failure.
Lindberg was born in Jersey City, N.J. She attended St. Andrews Elementary School in Flushing, N.Y., St. Agnes High School in College Point, N.Y., and graduated from Packard Business College in New York City in 1937. She married Charles E. Lindberg on May 14, 1949, and the couple had two children, Suzanne and Robert.
Lindberg worked as an executive secretary for Exxon in New York for many years, taking time off to raise her family, then returning to work until her retirement in 1982. She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church in Greenwich. She volunteered at her childrens schools and was a member of both the Ladies Auxiliary at Nathaniel Witherell and the Greenwich Womens club. She served on the board of the Putnam Hill Cooperative Apartments prior to her move to South Carolina.
She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Lindberg Flynn and her husband, George; her son, Robert Lindberg; and her grandchildren, Michael and Scott Flynn. She was predeceased by her husband and her sister, Joan Donnelly.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, Aug. 10, at 11 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 469 North St., Greenwich. There will be a vigil Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 31 Arch St., Greenwich. Interment will be private. Memorial donations may be made to The Friends of Nathaniel Witherell, Inc., 70 Parsonage Road, Greenwich, CT 06830.
