GREENWICH, Conn. ? Margaret Peggy Hobby Drenckhahn, a member of one of Greenwich's oldest familes, died at Greenwich Hospital Sunday after a short illness. She was 75 years old.
Born July 27, 1936, Drenckhahn was a graduate of Greenwich High School and a lifelong resident of Greenwich. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed swimming, loved animals and was a devoted wife and mother.
Drenckhahn was a descendent of the Hobby family, one of the original families of Greenwich. The town was founded by John Mead II and his brother Joseph. Two of Meads daughters married into the Hobby family Sarah Mead married Jonathan Hobby and Hannah Mead married John Hobby.
Drenckhahn is survived by her husband of 54 years, Robert Drenckhahn; four sons, Robert Jr., David, Alan and Craig; a daughter-in-law, Sheila Keeshan; and her siblings, Sally Hobby Owen, Frederick Hobby Jr., Josephine Hobby Koellmer, Gerald J. Hobby and Margaret Koellmer.
Family and friends may call at the Castiglione Funeral Home, 134 Hamilton Ave., Greenwich, on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Internment will follow in Putnam Cemetery in Greenwich.
