Greenwich police arrested a 32-year-old Oxford man Wednesday on charges of writing bad checks at area consignment stores. Keith Chemlen, 32, who had two outstanding warrants, was arrested in court on counts of larceny and issuing bad checks. Police said Chemlen presented a $1,510.50 personal check from a closed Wachovia bank account at Consignment, Inc., to buy a silver spoon, bowl and flatware. They said he has a lengthy history of issuing bad checks and larceny, including 33 arrests and convictions. Chemlen was being held on a $10,000 bond and scheduled to appear in back court Wednesday.

Angela Tanen, 46, of 1046 King St., was arrested Aug. 13 on DWI charges. Police said Tanen was driving around the Lake Avenue rotary and failed to yield the right of way to a patrol officer. The officer stopped Tanen after following her for one-eighth of a mile and trying repeatedly to get her attention with flashing lights and sirens. She failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for DWI and failure to obey a traffic sign. She is due in court Aug. 27.
