Man Arrested for Driving Without License

A man from Yonkers was arrested in Greenwich early Wednesday morning for driving without a valid license. Martin Eduardo Salgado, 22, of 118 McClean Ave. was   stopped after he passed a red light on Ritch Avenue.  Officers reported several unopened bottles of beer on the floor in plain view of a 16-year-old female passenger. The driver showed officers a Mexican driver's license, but the photo on the license did not look like him. At the police station the man was told he would be fingerprinted, at which point he told officers his real name was Martin Eduardo Salgado. He was arrested on charges of interfering with police, permitting a minor to possess alcohol, operating a motor vehicle without a license and failure to obey a red traffic control signal. He was being held on a $500 bond and is due in court on Dec. 15.

Also from the police department:

Caroline Applegarth, 26, of 94 Meadow Wood Drive in Greenwich was arrested Sunday on DWI charges after she was stopped for speeding on West Putnam Ave. Applegarth told police she had "had a few" drinks, but she  failed field sobriety tests. In addition to the DWI count, she was charged with traveling fast and failure to maintain lane. She was released on a $250 bond and is due in court on Dec. 13.
