Man Arrested at Greenwich DUI Checkpoint

A Greenwich man was arrested Saturday at a police checkpoint on Delavan Avenue. Police began the checkpoints last weekend in an effort to curb drunken driving and plan to continue through the New Year. When stopped, Jeffrey Jensen, 55, of 66 James St., told police he had been drinking earlier in the evening and failed field sobriety tests. He was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence and was held on $250 bond. Jensen is due in court Dec. 31.

• James Hoffkins, 51, of 30 Riversville Road, Greenwich, was arrested Monday on a drunken-driving charges after veering into the opposite lane of traffic and nearly hitting a police car. After being stopped, Hoffkins failed field sobriety tests and was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and failure to maintain lane. He was held on $250 bond and is due in court Jan. 3.
