Joseph J. Steponik, a former Greenwich resident, died Jan. 27. He was 92. Steponik was born in Byram and was an active member of the community.
He served in the U.S. Navy. Steponik worked for two years in the CCC in Connecticut and Wyoming, for five years with Homelite Corp. of Greenwich, for 40 years doing landscaping work in Greenwich. He was a longtime member of Knights of Columbus No. 39 in Greenwich.
Steponik enjoyed a round of golf at the Bruce Golf Course during his free time. In 1985, Steponik moved to Bradenton, Fla., and enjoyed playing golf in the sunshine at Manatee Golf Course.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Miles; sisters Rose Steponik and Stephanie D'Autillo; and a niece and two nephews. A memorial service was held Jan. 31 at Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory in Bradenton. Online condolences may be made to www.brownandsonsfuneral.com.
