Joan Bouton, Longtime Greenwich Resident

GREENWICH, Conn. — Joan Bouton, a resident of Cos Cob for nearly 50 years, died June 15. She was 82.

Bouton was born in Richmond Hill, N.Y., and graduated from New York University. She was active in various parent teacher associations, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and Christ Church's Sunday School and Altar Guild. She had been a real estate agent with Russell Pruner & Associates and with Shore & Country Properties.

She was predeceased by her husband, William W. Bouton Jr. She is survived by two sons, William W. Bouton III and his wife Mary of Cromwell and Thomas J. Bouton and his wife Annette of Stratford; two daughters, Margaret A. Maxson of Catonsville, Md., and Pamela J. Hunt and her husband Jeffrey of Riverside; and nine grandchildren Allison Bouton, Michael Bouton (and his fianceé, Tara Richards), Steven Shema, Laura Shema (and her fiancé, Tom Hart), Alyssa Bouton, Wendy Bouton, William Piro, Emily Hunt and Griffin Hunt; one special brother, Leonard J. Murrans of Cumming, Ga.; and her dear friend, Russell Pruner and his family.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 30, at Christ Church, 254 E. Putnam Ave. in Greenwich. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christ Church Altar Guild, 254 E. Putnam Ave., Greenwich, CT 06830.
