According to the National Weather Service, the highest recorded wind gusts for Monday were recorded at:
- Bridgeport Airport: 60 mph
- Stamford: 57 mph
- Danbury Airport: 43 mph
- Fairfield: 42 mph
- Stamford: 40 mph
The sustained winds were strong, too, out of the northwest at 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 60 mph.
The winds were strong enough to knock down trees and power lines. In Greenwich, a massive tree smashed into a car on the Merritt Parkway, closing the road for a number hours on the southbound side. No major injuries were reported.
Train delays were reported throughout the day, with trees down on the tracks near Branchville and earlier near Cannondale and Old Greenwich in Connecticut.
And hundreds of power outages were reported across Fairfield County, with the number changing every few minutes as repairs were made while new outages occurred.
The power outages that remained as of 5:30 p.m. Monday, according to Eversource and United Illuminating, were:
- Bridgeport: 118 customers without power
- Danbury: 72 customers
- Darien: 15 customers
- Easton: 47 customers
- Fairfield: 130 customers
- Greenwich: 639 customers
- Monroe: 245 customers
- New Fairfield: 15 customers
- Newtown: 115 customers
- Norwalk: 20 customers
- Ridgefield: 73 customers
- Shelton: 140 customers
- Stamford: 30 customers
- Stratford: 26 customers
- Trumbull: 156 customers
- Weston: 21 customers
- Westport: 18 customers
- Wilton: 49 customers
By Monday evening, the temperature will drop from 32 to about 18 degrees. Winds will drop to 5 to 10 mph after midnight but could still gust as high as 36 mph.
Tuesday will be mostly sunny again, with a high near 34 and wind chills between 15 and 25.
On Wednesday, there is a slight chance of snow before 11 a.m., then a chance of rain and snow until 2 p.m., then a slight chance of snow after 2 p.m. It will be mostly cloudy, with a 30 percent chance of precipitation.
