Himes Undeterred by Super Committee's Failure

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — U.S. Rep. Jim Himes said the failure of the Super Committee to present Congress with a $1.2 trillion deficit reduction plan by the mandated Nov. 23 deadline "represents all that is wrong with Washington."

"While I am frustrated, I remain committed to reducing our nation's growing deficit and dangerous jobs crisis in a thoughtful and meaningful way," Himes, a Democrat whose district takes in most of southern Fairfield County, said in a statement.

"I will continue pushing for bipartisan spending and tax reform to reorder our nation's budget priorities in a way that both puts us on a path toward fiscal sustainability and invests in the future."
