At about 5:30 p.m., the rush-hour delays on I-95 northbound stretched for 22.6 miles from Exit 5 in Greenwich to Exit 27 in Bridgeport, DOT said.
Those heading home on the Merritt Parkway also found it slow-going, with backups for 20.4 miles from Exit 36 to Exit 51 in Trumbull, DOT said.
Also, I-95 southbound is congested for 6.5 miles between Exits 9 and 3, from Darien to Greenwich, DOT said.
On the southbound Merritt, a two-car crash was blocking a lane and slowing traffic between Exits 31 and 29 in Greenwich, DOT said.
In the northern part of Fairfield County, I-84 eastbound in Danbury is congested for 4.4 miles between Exits 2 and 5, DOT said.
