Greenwich/Stamford Preservation Projects Honored

GREENWICH/STAMFORD, Conn. — Two award winners were praised by State Sen. L. Scott Frantz last week for their projects at Innis Arden Cottage at Greenwich Point and Old Town Hall of Stamford.

“Without their efforts, these valuable assets could have been lost forever to our state’s history,” Frantz said in a statement April 4 at the 2012 Connecticut Preservation Awards ceremony at the State Capitol.

The two projects from Greenwich and Stamford won Awards of Merit for Physical Preservation.

The first was the Innis Arden Cottage of Greenwich, honoring the Greenwich Point Conservancy, Chris and Rachel Franco, the Town of Greenwich, Dodaro Ross Architects, Mark B. Thompson Architects, David Seymour, P.E., Gro Pro Landscape Co., Murphy Brothers Contracting, Lakota Builders & Associates and H. Camacho Home Improvement.

The second was the Old Town Hall of Stamford, honoring the City of Stamford, Fuller & D’Angelo Architects and Altieri Sebor Wieber, LLC.

“We are truly fortunate that many organizations and individuals value historic preservation,” said Frantz. “These structures are living examples of the past and allow for future generations to gain a deeper understanding of our local history.”

The event was hosted by the Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation in partnership with the State Historic Preservation Office and the Department of Economic and Community Development.

The Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation is a nonprofit statewide membership organization established by a special act of the General Assembly in 1975. The trust works with local preservation groups and individuals as well as statewide organizations to advocate historic preservation throughout Connecticut.
