Greenwich Wendy's Robbed at Gunpoint

Wendy's was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday night, and a male robber got away with an unknown amount of cash. No one was injured in the robbery on West Putnam Avenue.

Police have not identified a suspect.

As the fast-food restaurant's dining room was closing Wednesday night, a black male with black military-style camouflage paint smeared on his face approached an employee. The man was brandishing a handgun and demanded cash from the register. The suspect then forced six people at the Wendy's into an office in the restaurant before taking an undetermined amount of cash and fleeing.

Lt. Kraig Gray, police spokesman, said Thursday the detective division was following up with an investigative lead, but no suspect had been found yet.

The suspect is described as a black male of average height and thin build, dressed all in black with a black knit hat. He was wearing thick glasses and white gloves, similar to those worn by a baseball batter.

Anyone with information regarding the robbery is asked to contact the department's tip line at 203-622-3333 or 1-800-372-1176, or by email with Wendy's Robbery in the subject line.
