Greenwich Warning: Keep Hydrants Clear

When you're shoveling, don’t forget to find that buried fire hydrant and dig it out. The recent snowstorms have left many hydrants in Greenwich completely or partially covered. The town Highway Department has been busy clearing roadways, leaving hydrants near homes buried in ice and snow.

If a fire were to occur, firefighters would lose time attempting to locate and dig out hydrants. And when it comes to a fire, every second counts.

The town is also asking property owners to remember to clear snow and ice off sidewalks in front of their homes and businesses, in accordance with town ordinance.
