Greenwich Town Party Sells Out in Just Four Days

GREENWICH, Conn. – Tickets for this year’s highly anticipated Greenwich Town Party sold out in just four days, the event’s organizers announced Monday.

Singer-songwriter Paul Simon is set to headline the event.

Event organizers credited the sell out to the high awareness of the success of last year’s all-day music, food, and family festival event, combined with high-profile acts, and “the community's receptiveness to gather in celebration of their community spirit.”

An allotment of 5,000 tickets was allowed by the town of Greenwich to be sold for the event, which is in its second year. Last year 3,500 tickets were sold. The party is slated for May 26 at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park.

As of Saturday, 85 percent of the tickets for this year's all-day music, food, and family festival were sold and the remaining tickets were sold by 8 p.m. Sunday.

Twelve-time Grammy Award-winning Simon will be joined on the main stage by reggae-legends The Wailers, the blues band Tedeschi Trucks Band, gospel legend Kirk Franklin and Grace Potter & The Nocturnals.

Greenwich Town Party organizers have implemented a waiting list sign-up on the event's website, in case additional tickets become available between now and May 26. Any additional tickets will be made available on a lottery basis.

Another way people still can attend the event, as well as to contribute, is by volunteering for a four-hour work shift during the festival. Residents are encouraged to submit their interest in volunteering through the website and a link is provided on the home page in the lower left section.
