Greenwich Town Hall Wins Blood Drive Challenge

GREENWICH, Conn. – For the second consecutive year, Greenwich Town Hall won an area blood drive challenge.

The number of blood donations in Connecticut was the lowest seen in more than a decade this summer, according to the American Red Cross. The organization is appealing to people with all blood types to donate. Up to three lives can be saved by one donation, the organization says.

“The donation results demonstrate the impact that our government representatives, landlords and property managers can have in helping our local communities,” said Jodi Gutierrez, vice president of property management for George Comfort & Sons, sponsors of the challenge.

The 2011 Fairfield County Property Managers and Landlords Blood Drive Challenge raised 388 pints of blood for the American Red Cross. The donations collected at this year’s blood drive will help save up to 1,164 Connecticut hospital patients – a new record for the challenge.

Since 2006, the challenge has raised 1,812 pints of blood, said Joan Bennett, district manager of donor services for the American Red Cross.

Participants in the 2011 Challenge included: George Comfort & Sons; Greenwich Town Hall; RFR Realty; BLT; Ashforth; SL Green, Marcus Partners; Carter USA; Malkin Properties; CBRE; and Norwalk Town Hall.
