Greenwich Teens To Raise Funds for Wounded Vets

If you want to help wounded U.S. servicemen and women, look for teen volunteers collecting funds over the next week on Greenwich Avenue.

Tyler Triscari, founding chairperson of Greenwich Teens Support the Troops, and other Greenwich young people will collect donations in front of Vineyard Vines, Starbucks and the Apple Store from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, and from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 5.

The teens will also talk about programs and services that assist injured veterans and their families during recovery, rehabilitation and transition.

The funds will be used to purchase Wounded Warrior Project Backpacks containing clothing, toiletries, calling cards and playing cards -- items designed to make the soldiers’ hospital stay more comfortable.

The Wounded Warrior Project’s mission is to honor and empower wounded soldiers. To date, over 40,000 members of the U.S. armed forces have been wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The fundraising activities are the kickoff to the fourth annual Greenwich Supports the Troops Benefit, which will be held at the Belle Haven Club on Saturday, May 21. To purchase tickets, visit the Greenwich Supports the Troops Website.
