Greenwich Teens Support Wounded Warriors

GREENWICH, Conn. – Greenwich teens will once again hit the streets to collect donations and hand out pamphlets in support of the Wounded Warrior Project. The money will pay for backpacks that contain items to make soldiers’ hospital stays more comfortable.

On Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Thursday, May 3, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. the teens, members of the Greenwich Supports the Troops Junior Committee, will be on Greenwich Avenue in front of Vineyard Vines and Starbucks. They will be talking about Wounded Warriors’ services, collecting donations and providing additional information about the fifth annual Greenwich Supports the Troops Gala on Saturday, May 19, at the Belle Haven Club.

The project’s mission is to honor and empower wounded soldiers. To date, over 40,000 members of the U.S. armed forces have been wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Last year, the Junior Committee, lead by Tyler Triscari, raised $17,186.43 for the Wounded Warrior Project. To learn more about Greenwich Supports the Troops, visit the group's website.

Besides the Greenwich Avenue event, the teens are placing cash boxes around town. They also have a Crowd Rise account to raise additional donations. You can get more information on the Crowd Rise website by seaching for Greenwich Teens Support the Troops 2012.
