Greenwich Selectman Proposes Leaf Blower Changes

GREENWICH, Conn. – Selectman Drew Marzullo said Thursday he plans to introduce proposed revisions to the town’s code on leaf blower use.

Marzullo is encouraging residents to attend and voice their opinions on the matter at the next monthly meeting of the Board of Selectmen on March 1. He headed a group that met this month to examine the leaf blower issue and came up with some possible changes that emphasize enforcement and education.

“I want to keep this ordinance as simple as possible,” Marzullo said at a meeting of the selectmen. He plans to discuss tweaking the hours and days when residents can use gas-powered leaf blowers. “People have a right to quiet time, but people have the right to maintain their lawns as they choose,” he said.

Marzullo said he also wants to hear and debate the possibility of an escalating fee schedule for residents who violate a proposed ban.

The selectmen will meet at 10 a.m. March 1 in the Greenwich Town Hall Meeting Room.
