The storm may have passed, but the cleanup in Greenwich continues. Many sidewalks remained impassable for pedestrians, and motorists trying to park in downtown Greenwich scrambled to find space while snow removal crews continued to plow.
We are hoping for voluntary compliance during the early stages of the cleanup efforts, but will be issuing citations in the future, said Lt. Kraig Gray, spokesman for the Greenwich Police Department.
Greenwich property owners and renters are required to keep all sidewalks along their property clear of snow and ice. Gray said police realize this was a heavy snowfall that occurred on a holiday weekend when many Greenwich families may have been away. He said police will begin ticketing Wednesday all over town for those who have not yet cleared their sidewalks.
The town Highway Division will be removing the snow downtown Tuesday night through Wednesday morning. If your car is parked in downtown Greenwich and you havent yet moved it, now is the time because during cleanup any cars still not moved out will be ticketed.
