Greenwich was in heavy snow cleanup mode Monday following Sundays massive winter storm, and the Police Department was urging residents to stay at home.
There is a lot of snow that has to be removed from the roadways, said Lt. Kraig Gray, spokesman for the department. The fewer cars there are out there, the easier it will be for removal and getting Greenwich back to business as usual.
In addition to bundling up when removing snow from driveways, residents were advised not to shovel snow into the roadway, which would add to the cleanup.
Power outages from the storm were minimal scale, and there were no serious weather-related EMS calls or serious car accidents. However, a snow emergency remained in effect and parking was not allowed on major thoroughfares due to snow removal.
Bible Street and Valley Road were both closed due to poles and wires blocking the road. A tree was down on Sweet Briar Lane and there were power outages on Old Church Road.
