GREENWICH, Conn. Greenwich was still experiencing high winds and floods Sunday afternoon as well as downed power lines and trees in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Irene. Town officials are recommending residents restrict travel only to necessary trips.
A total of 85 roads in Greenwich are closed and 35 are partially closed as of Sunday afternoon, including North Street, Havemeyer Lane, Riversville Road, Round Hill Road and Lake Avenue. Downed power lines should be considered live and hazardous and should be avoided, officials said.

Residents living along Long Island Sound who were asked to evacuate because of tidal surges and cresting of the Byram River are clear to return to their homes.
