GREENWICH, Conn. Mary Pepe, a former human resources consultant, has been named human resources director for the Town of Greenwich, First Selectman Peter Tesei announced.
Before running her own consulting firm, Pepe served as HR director of the South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority for 13 years and later as vice president of operations. She is expected to start in Greenwich in one month.
Her work at the water authority combined strong human resources and operational leadership, including in part the development of policies and procedures, service as a human resource partner and adviser, strong labor relations and negotiations experience, and the efficient and effective operation of the water system resulting in consistently high customer satisfaction ratings, the first selectmans office said.
The search process was begun in October by the Water Consulting Group, a national executive recruitment firm focusing on the public sector. Twenty-nine candidates applied, and Pepe was interviewed by the Board of Selectmen.
Pepe received a bachelor of arts degree from the College of New Rochelle and a master's from Fairfield University. She also completed postgraduate coursework at the University of Connecticut.
Before working at the water authority, Pepe was the director of human resources for Valley Cable Vision/Tele-Media Company of Western Connecticut. She began her career as a teacher in Derby and served as director of staff development and public relations for the Derby public schools.
Pepe is the immediate past chairman of the board of Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven and the former chairman of the board of the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven.
