Greenwich Man Falls Asleep at the Wheel

A Cos Cob man was arrested on DWI charges Monday night after falling asleep at a traffic light on Palmer Hill Road. Police saw Elmer Diaz, 24, of 6 Seitz Lane remain stopped at a traffic light after the light cycled twice from red to green and over again.

When officers investigated, Diaz was sound asleep. When police woke him up, Diaz reportedly smelled of alcohol. He failed field sobriety tests and was arrested on charges of DWI and operating a motor vehicle without a license. He posted a $250 bond and was due in court Dec. 20.

• Wade Curley, 19, of 6 Benders Drive, Greenwich, was arrested Nov. 23 on charges of driving under suspension and traveling unreasonably fast. During a routine traffic stop, police learned Curley's license had been suspended after a previous alcohol-related conviction. He was released on a promise to appear in court Dec. 9.
