GREENWICH, Conn. Five veterans organizations split a $1 million gift as a trio of Greenwich money managers who shared a $254 million Powerball jackpot kicked off their charitable giving, the New York Daily News reported in an article.
The Putnam Avenue Family Trust and its three trustees, Tim Davidson, Brandon Lacoff and Greg Skidmore of Greenwich, said through a spokesman Sunday that $1 million will be distributed to five organizations that assist veterans and active duty service members recently returned from deployment.
They said in a statement that they cannot think of a more urgent priority than addressing the needs of those men and women who have defended our nation.
Donations of $200,000 each were being given to the UnderServed and the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, both based in New York; Building Homes for Heroes, based in Valley Stream, N.Y.; the Bob Woodruff Foundation, based in Bristow, Va.; and Operation First Response, based in Culpepper, Va.
All work for Belpointe, a financial management firm at 125 Greenwich Ave. Their trust took in a $103.5 million lump sum after taxes after they came forward on Nov. 28 and said they would make a charitable donation within 10 days of winning. The jackpot is the largest ever in the state and the 12th biggest in the history of Powerball. The ticket was sold in Stamford.
