Coletti was recognized for her work in the palliative care field as founding medical director for Palliative Care Services at Greenwich Hospital and medical director for the hospital’s Home Hospice Program.
YWCA Greenwich BRAVA Awards recognize outstanding women achievers who have excelled in their professional careers and volunteer their time and talent to help others.
Coletti’s career in women’s health care includes 20 years in obstetrics and gynecology, 15 of which have been spent at Greenwich Hospital.
In 2006, her health-care path was redirected by what she describes as “a familiar yet different clarion call” -- her aging parents who needed assistance. In 2009, Coletti became the medical director of Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care of Southwestern Connecticut. The following year, she earned board certification in Hospice and Palliative Care.
In 2012, Greenwich Hospital created a Palliative Care Department with Coletti at the helm. Since then, patient volume has tripled and services include a teaching curriculum with resident and staff education, community outreach and a comprehensive palliative care team.
“To have such a deeply compassionate and highly competent physician like Donna Coletti leading Greenwich Hospital’s Palliative Care Department not only benefits our patients, but all of the communities we serve,” said Frank A. Corvino, hospital president and chief executive officer. “In all that she does as a physician, mentor and patient advocate, Dr. Coletti embodies the hospital’s philosophy of service excellence.”
