The government has been cracking down on hospitals for infections and injuries that occur on site and issuing fines for facilities that don't make the grade. Danbury Hospital, with a rating of 10, and Stamford Hospital, with a rating of 8.7, could lose up to 1 percent of all Medicare billing as a result of poor rankings, greenwichtime.com said.
The new initiative aimed at reducing infections, illnesses and injuries that are acquired at hospitals is part of the Affordable Care Act. Each facility is given a score between 1 and 10, greenwichtime.com reported.
Greenwich Hospital, as part of the Yale New Haven Health System, earned a score of 8.375, greenwichtime.com reported.
