Greenwich High Grad Found at Frat House Dies

A Greenwich High School graduate has died after an incident at Indiana University, according to a statement from IU police.

According to the statement, Brian Macken, 19, died at Bloomington Hospital in Indiana at 6 p.m. Tuesday. He was taken to Bloomington Hospital on Friday afternoon after being found unconscious at the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity at Indiana University.

"The Dean of Students Pete Goldsmith has been with the [Macken] family since he was hospitalized," said IU Chief of Police Keith Cash in the release. "The entire Indiana University community is saddened by this loss."

According to published reports, Macken was taken to the intensive care unit to be treated for a drug overdose. IU campus police were continuing its investigation, and Phi Sigma Kappa is reportedly cooperating. Macken was reportedly not a member of the fraternity but had attended a party there Thursday night.

Other sources reported that police found evidence of drug use in Macken's dorm room.

The Daily Greenwich left messages with the Indiana University Police Department and the Indiana University Communications Office seeking further comment.

Macken graduated from Greenwich High School in 2009 and was a member of the varsity ice hockey team. He has three younger brothers currently at Greenwich High.
