Greenwich Heads to the Polls for Election Day

GREENWICH, Conn. – Greenwich residents will head to the polls Tuesday to elect new town and schools officials, including a first selectman and part of the Board of Education.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Check online to find your polling place and make sure to check out the ballot in your voting district online.

Incumbent First Selectman Peter Tesei will face off against Democratic candidate John Blankley, a member of the Representative Town Meeting. In the selectman’s race, both Republican David Theis and Democrat Drew Marzullo are seeking second terms. The three seats on the Board of Selectmen will be filled by the first selectman, and two other candidates who receive the most votes overall. 

For the Board of Education, voters can vote for four candidates, but only two candidates in each party. Two Democrats – Jennifer Dayton and Adriana Ospina - have already clinched their seats. It’s up to voters to choose between four Republicans for the other two seats. The Republican candidates are incumbent Marianna Ponns Cohen, Anna Saras Povinelli, Peter von Braun and Barbara O’Neill.  

Incumbent Town Clerk Carmella Budkins, a Republican, is competing against her first challenger in 20 years, Democrat Stephen Ng. Democrat William Grad is challenging incumbent Tax Collector Tod Laudonia, a Republican.

On the Board of Estimate & Taxation, all 12 seats are up for election, and registered voters can choose any six candidates. Democratic candidates are incumbent William Finger, Sean Goldrick, incumbent Jeffrey Ramer, incumbent Mary Lee Kiernan, Robert Brady, and incumbent Randall Huffman. Republican candidates are Gregory Bedrosian, incumbent Joseph Pellegrino, incumbent Leslie Tarkington, incumbent Michael Mason, incumbent Arthur Norton, and Marc Johnson.

The Board of Assessment Appeals is also on the ballot, but it is not a competitive re-election. Republicans Richard Kriskey, Philip Skidmore and Jeff Reardon as well as Democrats Bill Bambrick and Mary McNamee will all be re-elected.
