Greenwich First Selectman Endorses Obsitnik

GREENWICH, Conn. - Greenwich's First Selectman Peter Tesei announced Monday his endorsement of fellow Republican Steve Obsitnik for U.S. Congress from Connecticut's Fourth District.

"It is time to change course in Washington, D.C., and I believe Steve Obsitnik is the right choice to represent our district and to help lead our country in a new direction," Tesei said in a statement. "As a business executive, Steve understands the importance of balanced budgets and fiscal discipline, and he is committed to making government smaller and more effective in order to achieve the most important tasks at hand: growing our economy and creating jobs."

The seat is now held by U.S. Rep. Jim Himes, a Democrat who lives in Greenwich.

Obsitnik has been a technology industry entrepreneur and small business executive for more than 15 years in the Silicon Valley and Connecticut. Obsitnik graduated from Stamford High School in 1985 and the U.S. Naval Academy. After completing his naval duty, Obsitnik attended the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, earning a master's in business administration. He is also an adjunct professor of entrepreneurship at the Jack Welch College of Business at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield. He lives in Westport with his family.

"First Selectman Peter Tesei is a dynamic proven leader in our district, and I am deeply appreciative of his support," Obsitnik said in a statement. "He understands that government must stop living beyond its means and indebting future generations."

Obsitnik added he plans to work with Tesei and other leaders in the Fourth District to "promote our shared principles of responsibility and accountability."
