Greenwich Detective Commended for Robbery Arrests

GREENWICH, Conn. – Detective Sgt. Thomas Kelly of the Greenwich Police Department has been honored for his foot pursuit of a suspect following the Sept. 26 robbery at the Lux, Bond and Green jewelry store.

Kelly located and arrested one of the four suspects, which proved to be a pivotal moment for the investigation, said Lt. Kraig Gray, spokesman for the department. Kelly then supervised the effort to track down the remaining suspects in New York City.

Four people took part in the robbery, and three have been arrested. A warrant has been obtained for the fourth suspect, who remains on the run. All the suspects have extensive criminal histories, and one was released from prison just four days before the robbery.

“This is a classic example of Sgt. Kelly’s resourcefulness and dedication to duty,” said Capt. Mark Marino of the Detective Division. “He always seems to be in the right place at the right time and is very deserving of this recognition.”
