GREENWICH, Conn. A report earlier this month of a man trying to get an Old Greenwich boy into his car turned out to be a misunderstanding, Greenwich Police have concluded.
Five middle school boys were playing in a yard in Old Greenwich on April 7 when a man drove up in an older SUV and told one of the boys he was there to pick him up and drive him home, according to the police report. The boy did not get into the man's vehicle and the man left.
An off-duty Greenwich Police Officer located the vehicle and was able to interview the man and examine the circumstances. After a brief investigation, the officer determined it was all a misunderstanding, Lt. Kraig Gray, spokesman for the police department, said Thursday.
That resident was in the area looking for their own child and everything was corroborated, said Gray. Right now there are no violations, no threats. It was a simple misunderstanding case closed.
