Commuters beware: This latest snowstorm may coat Greenwich with ice in between delivering fresh shots of snow.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for all of Fairfield County. Weather officials have predicted three to fives inches of snow and sleet to fall throughout the day Tuesday along with about a tenth of an inch of ice. Freezing rain and sleet is likely to continue through Wednesday night, the Weather Service says.
Ice and heavy snow can damage power lines, roofs and decks. Town officials are urging residents to clear snow from flat or low-pitched roofs and decks. "The heavier-than-expected snow Connecticut received from last week's storm led to a number of roof and barn collapses," said Peter J. Boynton, Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security commissioner.
