Grace Lachicotte, Greenwich Restaurant Owner

Grace “Gracie” Ballard Lachicotte, a former Greenwich restaurant owner and resident, died March 8 from acute leukemia.

Lachicotte lived in New Bern, N.C., with her husband, George Lachicotte. Previously, she had lived in Charleston and Edisto Island, S.C. In both places she owned and operated Gracie Mansion, a restaurant specializing in rolled pita sandwiches and pizza. The first two restaurants, one in Cos Cob and the other on Greenwich Avenue, were famous for soups and rolled sandwiches.

She is survived by her husband, daughter Claire and her husband John; and her grandchildren.
