Elizabeth Balco, Former Teacher in Greenwich

Elizabeth F. Balco, a former teacher at Greenwich Public Schools, died at her home in Placitas, N.M. on Jan. 12.

Balco was born in New York City and graduated from Brown University in 1961. Balco taught mathematics for 45 years, first at Central Middle School from 1964 to 1970 and at Greenwich Country Day School from 1980 to 1993. She served as chair of the Upper School math department from 1985 to 1993. After moving to New Mexico, she taught at Albuquerque Academy.

She is survived by her second husband, James Romero, his three children, two children from her first marriage and one grandchild. Memorial donations can be made to PB&J Family Services of Albuquerque or Haven House of Rio Rancho.
