Duo Charged in Greenwich Apple Store Thefts

GREENWICH, Conn. – A Bronx, N.Y., man and a juvenile were arrested Wednesday in connection with the theft of $10,000 worth of electronics last month from the Apple Store on Greenwich Avenue.

Five suspects made off with cell phones and laptop computers, Greenwich Police said. Dwight Anthony Collins, 18, of 853 E. 216th St. in the Bronx and a 17-year-old boy were taken into custody on warrants Wednesday, police said. The police investigation has led to the arrest of several suspects in New York State.

Collins and the juvenile were both charged with conspiracy to commit larceny and larceny. Both are being held on $50,000 bonds and are due in court Sept. 28.

• Erin Lamedica, 23, of 104 Durst Place in Yonkers, N.Y., turned herself in Wednesday on a warrant charging her with taking part in a spree of thefts from cars in last November, police said. She was charged with conspiracy to commit burglary, conspiracy to commit larceny and larceny. She posted a $5,000 bond and is due in court on Sept. 28.

• James Wilson, 51, of 629 Throop Avenue, Apt. 1 in Brooklyn, N.Y., was arrested Tuesday for trying to use a stolen credit card to buy merchandise at Betteridge Jewelers, police said. Police said the New Jersey license and credit card Wilson gave to buy a $30,665 Rolex watch were forged. Wilson admitted having a fraudulent license and credit card, police said. He was charged with forgery, illegal reproduction of a credit card, illegal use of a credit card, identity theft and criminal attempt at larceny. He was being held on a $50,000 bond and is due in court on Sept. 28.

• A 15-year-old girl was arrested at Sephora on Greenwich Avenue Sunday when employees found her leaving the store with unpaid merchandise worth $469, police said. She admitted putting the items in her purse and planning to leave the store without paying, police said. She was issued a juvenile summons for larceny and is due in court on Sept. 27.
