GREENWICH, Conn. Dr. John Henry Prunier of Greenwich died recently in his home after a 14-year battle with multiple myeloma cancer and Alzheimers disease. He was 81 years old.
Prunier was born in Elmira, N.Y., in 1930 and graduated Colgate University in 1952. He received his medical degree from Cornell University New York Hospital, where he completed his internship and also served as chief resident. In 1960, Prunier served as a captain in the U.S. Army medical corps; first in a Mobile Army Surgical Hospital, better known as a M*A*S*H unit, in Korea then at Fort Jay on Governors Island, N.Y. From 1962 to 1963, he served on the staff of Rockefeller University, where he conducted research in genetics.
In 1963, Prunier married his wife Suzanne and moved to Greenwich to being Jacks practice and to start a family. He practiced for 35 years in Greenwich and was making house calls up until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Suzanne; his son John; his daughter Georgette and husband David; his daughter Danielle and husband Steve Herman; his daughter Christy and husband David Doss; his daughter Julie and husband Shane McGrath; and 11 grandchildren.
