Dorothy Johnson, Greenwich Hospital Volunteer

Dorothy R. Johnson, a Cos Cob resident, died of Alzheimer's disease at her home Jan. 14. She was 84.

She was born in Bronxville, N.Y., and graduated from Grier School in Tyrone, Pa.

Johnson married her husband, William, in 1948 and moved to Greenwich in 1958. She was active in the community and was a keen golfer and paddle tennis player. Johnson also loved to take photos of wildlife and sports. Later in life, Johnson volunteers at Greenwich Hospital.

She is survived by her children, Celinda Johnson, William Johnson and Mary Fletcher; and four grandchildren, a step-grandchild and eight nieces and nephews. Johnson was predeceased by her husband in 1986 and brother Frank C. Rogers Jr. in 2007.

Family and friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Leo P. Gallagher & Son, 31 Arch St., Greenwich. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Greenwich Hospital, 5 Perryridge Road, Greenwich, CT 06830 or to Greenwich Adult Day Care, 125 River Road Extension, Cos Cob, CT 06807.
