Dolphins Spotted In Waters Off Greenwich Point

GREENWICH, Conn. -- A pod of dolphins was spotted off Greenwich Point on Sunday, providing a show for a local family that was in the right place at the right time, according to The Connecticut Post.

Bottle-nosed dolphins were spotted in New York Harbor in 2013 and 2014, and there have been sporadic appearances of the marine mammals up and down the Sound in recent years according to The Connecticut Post.

Alexis Voulgaris, of Old Greenwich captured images of the mammals swimming around while his family was fishing in the waters of Long Island Sound off Greenwich Point, according to The Connecticut Post.

Although dolphins are not unheard of near Greenwich, it is compelling to see a large group, local marine biologist Sue Baker told the Connecticut Post.

Baker said the dolphins love warm water an were likely looking for food, the Post said.
