David Maletta, Investment Banker, Sailor

Gregory D. Maletta II, an investment banker, died at his home in Greenwich on Nov. 22 at the age of 61.

After graduating St. Albans School in Washington, D.C., Maletta went on to receive his bachelor’s degree from Trinity College and a master’s from the Johns Hopkins School for Advanced International Studies. Maletta started his career in commercial banking with the international department of Continental Bank.

In 1987, Maletta joined Credit Suisse, then known as First Boston, as head of global underwriting in credit risk management. He was also a longtime member of the finance group of the bank’s U.S. investment banking committee.

Maletta played tennis and was an accomplished offshore racer. He was a member of the Belle Haven Club and the  New York Yacht Club. Maletta also enjoyed summers in Nantucket.

Maletta is survived by his wife, Anne; children, Eleanore, Emily and Andrew; brother, Jeffery; and his parents, the Rev. Gregory and Ruth Maletta. A memorial service will be held at Christ Church on Dec. 3 at 1 p.m. Memorial donations can be made to the G. David M. Maletta Memorial Fund at Trinity College.
