The town received good news that the Greenwich Country Day School is donating land to Greenwich to improve the intersection at Old Church and Fairfield roads.
"As a former faculty member of Greenwich Country Day, it's a very generous gesture and I wholeheartedly support it," said Selectman David Theis, who was once an athletic director at the school and who still remains on the board.
Bruce Cohen, the school's lawyer and a partner in the firm Fogarty, Cohen, Selby and Nemiroff, presented the conveyance at the Board of Selectman's meeting Thursday morning.
In May 2008, the school proposed creating a lane for cars making a right turn from Old Church Road to Fairfield Road, a project that was completed and has improved sightlines.
The Board of Selectman accepted the 374-square-foot land transfer unanimously. At the Representative Town Meeting's Sept. 20 meeting, the request will be formally approved.
